more traditions

My siblings and I love traditions. It's something we learned from our mother. When we were growing up we weren't what you would call "well-off" but there were two times a year that my sisters and I always got new dresses (that's not to say that we never got a dress at any other time, but we always got one these two times). Every Easter Sunday and the Sunday before Christmas we could count on a new dress (often made by my Mom). Looking back, that simple tradition helped me to realize that those Sundays were different and special. So, to make a long story longer, I have tried to follow her footsteps. I've even made the girls skirts (to save money) the past two years and it's very gratifying (this year they cost $4 each)! Thanks Mom for guarding those traditions so carefully! We love you!

I noticed your girls skirts at church yesterday, but didn't get a chance to tell you - because I was basically in the hall the whole time. Anyway, they were darling! I loved the material! I think it's a great tradition. As we were getting ready for church, I was wishing that I had prepared better and had "Christmas clothes" for my kids to wear. We made do, but I loved your outfits.

Dear Amie, I just read your blog and want you to know I am happy the tradition keeps going on another generation. Your Mother's Mother made sure that she and her siplings had new cothes for Easter and Christmas Sundays. Some of the movies that we have been processwing are shots of my children in their new clothes on Easter Sundays. If I remember right my own Mother used to make new clothes for us for Easter. You see it really is a long lived family tradition. As you indicated it is symbolic of the importance of those two days we associate with our Redeemer. I love you very much and hope to be with you some time during the holiday. Grandpa.
